Overview: Mission / Vision
As If Theatre Company’s mission is to create engaging, challenging, and entertaining theatre for the community just north of Seattle.
The company believes that theatre is community, and together we can tell stories that inspire thought, engage conversations, and join all of us together to tell a bigger story. As If strives to do work that is accessible to all, and offers equitable opportunities for theatre artists in the community.
Key Initiatives
As If produces two full plays per year, with a current focus on contemporary plays, plus the Kenmore Quickies short play festival; and holds monthly audition monologue workshops and periodic playwriting classes.
As If is located in an area without many performing arts outlets. For each production, the company transforms a historic community club into a unique space to see great theatre, and is proud to offer Kenmore and surrounding communities quality theatre they can call their own. It operates under fiscal sponsorship from Arts of Kenmore.
History
As If Theatre Company was started in November 2018 by local theatre artists, Cindy Giese French, Amy Gentry, and Molly Hall, who wanted to create an artistic home in the Northend. As a burgeoning city without a theatre group, Kenmore was the ideal location to call home.
Recent and upcoming shows include:
The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl (February 2019)
Kenmore Quickies (local playwrights’ fest) (July 2019)
Kimberly Akimbo by David Lindsay-Abaire (October 4-20, 2019)
Statement of financial accessibility
As If offers a base ticket price of $20-$25, and discounted ticket prices for Theatre Puget Sound members.
